Art is a personal thing and is has been said that what we hang on our walls can say a lot about us. It is a visual representation of what we believe in and who we are. Summer is a time for outdoor festivals; many of which are arts festivals, so I thought it would be fitting to talk about art this week. Below is a quote about art by, Thomas Merton.
Have you ever lost yourself in a piece of art, but also feel completely understood?
Whether it’s a rock legend, a local band or a pop star summer concerts are a must for me. I love going to concerts year round, but it’s so nice to be able to be outside and enjoy live music while being one with nature. It is fun to go to big name concerts in a large venue, but sometimes I prefer going to a park to see a local musician. It is so nice to be able to bring a blanket, your own refreshments, a snack and enjoy the nice summer nights all while listening to your favorite band.
Do you like to go to outdoor concerts in the summer?
Today is summer solstice, which means it is the first day of summer! This years solstice is extra special because it is the same day at June’s full moon, or as some call it the “strawberry moon” because of it’s reddish tint. This is the first time in 50 years there will be a full moon the same day as the summer solstice. The last time the solstice and strawberry moon happened together was at the beginning of 1967’s Summer of Love and it is not supposed to happen again until 2062, so when you step outside this evening make sure and look up in the sky to take in the full moon.
School is almost over and that means a lot of Seniors are graduating. I love this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt for those who are embarking on a new journey. Whether you are graduating, starting a new job or going on a life changing adventure remember to follow and trust your dreams.
What is something you dream of doing, but haven’t yet?
