I know a few people who are rooting for the Broncos and a few who are cheering for the Panthers, but I also know quite a few who are watching the Superbowl for the commercials. Everyone knows some of the best ads air during the biggest football game of the year and a few are already beginning to get some buzz. Pantene’s newest commercial was released yesterday and it is definitely going to be one of the most adorable Super Bowl ads you will see this Sunday.
Are you more excited for the football game or the commercials?
I have officially lost my voice and still have two days left of the Sundance Film Festival. I have a few more interviews scheduled and I need to find my voice, so I have been researching quick and easy remedies. Many people have said to sip on a hot drink like a hot toddy. It turns out people have been drinking hot toddies for decades to help soothe a sore throat and relieve the aches and pains that come with a cold. Whiskey acts as a decongestant and combined with honey, lemon, tea and the steam from the drink you have a perfect concoction to help clear up cold symptoms. Alcohol can also dehydrate you, so you will want to limit yourself to just one. Below is the classic hot toddy recipe to help relieve any signs of a cold or to help find a lost voice.
What do you like in your hot toddy?
1 cup of hot water
1 bag of herbal tea
1 1/2 ounce of your favorite rum, whiskey or brandy
After a long day I love to come home, change into my favorite comfy clothes and cuddle with my dog under a soft throw. Over the years I have received many blankets and love each one for a different reason. Growing up my grandmother made me all types of quilts and my mom and mother in law have both brought me blankets from their travels, so I have quite a collection, but I feel like you can never have too many blankets. A nice soft throw is must during the winter, so I rounded up 10 throws and they are below.
Do you like to have a lot of blankets around the house?
I have been feeling a cold coming on for two weeks now and was hoping I was in the clear when the Sundance Film Festival began, but because I have been burning the candle at both ends I am now officially sick. It is only a cold, but I don’t want it to turn into something serious, so I asked my doctor what cold remedies I could do at home. A list of 5 of my favorite home cold remedies are below and I hope they help you when you are sick.
What is your favorite at home cold remedy?
Drink Plenty Of Fluids
Liquids keep your throat moist, help break up congestion, and keep you hydrated. I know it can be hard to drink or eat when you are sick, but drinking plenty of fluids is an easy way to get the illness out of your body. Water, sports drinks and warm water with lemon and honey are all great drinks to help you get better soon.
Rest and Relaxation
I am always on the move and it is hard for me to take time off work, so this one is difficult for me. Your body needs to use its energy to fight off the illness, so the more energy you use the longer it takes for you to get better. Rest and stay warm as much as possible, so your body can use it’s energy to help you get well.
Steam It Up
You can loosen up a stuffy nose by breathing in steam. If you don’t have access to a steam room you can use a humidifier, hold your head over a pot of boiling water or take a hot shower.
Gargle With Warm Salt Water
When I was younger my grandmother told me to do this, so I know this remedy has been around for generations. It doesn’t taste very good, but it definitely brings temporary relief to a sore or scratchy throat. According to the Mayo Clinic, for best results, dissolve half a teaspoon of salt in a full glass of warm water and gargle the solution for a few seconds before spitting it out.
Sip Warm Liquids
Drinking warm liquids can be soothing on the nose and throat and help ease congestion. Hot tea, apple cider or chicken broth are all great drinks to sip on when you are feeling sick.

Since I am talking about celebrating this week and my two year wedding anniversary is a week from today I thought it would be suitable to put together a list of two year anniversary gifts for the man in your life. This could be two years of dating, two years of marriage or a gift for just being him. The traditional gift for the two year wedding anniversary is cotton and the modern is china, so I centered my list around these two gift ideas.
What have you given or want to give for your second anniversary?
1. A plush cotton robe with a gift certificate for a couples massage
2. A painting of where you were married painted on a cotton canvas
3. A sake set with in home, private sushi making lessons or a chef
4. Soft high thread count sheets you both can enjoy
5. Tickets to a sporting event, but don’t forget the cotton candy
6. Nice beach towels with a weekend away at the beach
7. A trip to China! Why does it have to be china itself?
