Summer is finally here and whether you are enjoying the warm weather in your own backyard or getting ready to go on a tropical vacation, now is the time to start thinking about your summer beauty routine. I rounded up 10 summer beauty products that will help you to stay looking gorgeous as the temperatures start to rise.
Summer time and being outside in the sun go hand and hand and it is very important to take care of yourself and your loved ones skin when spending time outside in the sun’s harmful rays. I want to be prepared for the summer, so I spoke to my dermatologist to see what sun protection tips she could give me and 5 of them are below. Some of them are obvious, but others I didn’t know about, so I am happy I asked her. I hope these tips help you when you are playing in the sun.
What sun protection tips do you have that aren’t on the list?

Apply sunscreen before you put on your clothes and before you go outside. Sunscreen needs about 20 minutes to sink in and you might miss a spot when you are working around your clothes.
Stay out of the sun by seeking shade and wear protective clothing such as wide brimmed hats and long sleeves.
When looking for sunscreen check the ingredients. Zinc oxide and titanium oxide are two of the best ingredients to look for ( I like Honest Mineral Sunscreen). If you can double up! Lather on a chemical sunscreen first, then when it’s dry rub on a physical block. The chemical sunscreen absorbs the sun’s rays and protects from UVA damage and the physical sunscreen adds another layer in case some sun gets through.
Remember to apply sunscreen close to your eyes and scalp. Regular sunscreens can sting if you get them too close to the eye, so use a concealer with SPF or a mineral powder with sunscreen protection (I like Peter Thomas Roth). Protect your scalp by misting a spray sunscreen around your head and when in doubt, wear a hat.
Get your vitamin D checked and visit your dermatologist regularly! Make sure your dermatologist checks for melanoma at least once a year!!!!!
It is important to be thoughtful about the perfume you choose to wear on a date. Not only can a fragrance make you feel your best, but it can set the tone for the date. If you are going out during the day it is best to lean towards something that is fruity and floral. When you are doing something athletic choose a fragrance that is fresh. For the romantic nights spray on a floral scent and if you are looking for lights out seduction look for something warm and spicy. If you are unsure of what fragrance to wear for you next date below are 5 perfumes and when to wear them this summer.
What is your favorite summer fragrance?

Yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to model for a styling class taught by Tim McClean, a cutting masterfor Kevin Murphy. I love modeling for the styling classes for Kevin Murphy because they give me a chance to learn about what is going on in the world of hair and pick up on what hair styles I can do on my own. Tim just got back from styling hair for Melbourne Fashion Week and loves reading up on the trends for hair as well as fashion, so much of the class was centered around what the trends are for Fall 2014 and how to achieve them. The three trends Tim spoke about the most are below as well as what Kevin Murphy products you can use to complete them. I swear by Kevin Murphy products and love what they have done to my hair. My hair wouldn’t hold any curl before I started using Kevin Murphy and know my hair will keep curl all day long. If you would like to learn more about Kevin Murphy and their products please visit Kevin Murphy.
What is your go to hair style?

The Textured Bob
Kevin Murphy came out with a new pair of curved scissors which are a great tool to get a textured bob like so many celebrities are going for this year. All of the stylists at the class couldn’t stop gushing about how much they loved the new scissors and how it has made their life so much easier because they are curved. Tim also used a lot of the Smooth Again to get the texture he was looking for.
Natural Beachy Waves
One of my favorite products by Kevin Murphy is the Hair Resort Spray. It smells so, so good and is very easy to use. Just spray it onto damp or dry hair, scrunch and go.
Messy Up do’s (Using the Kevin Murphy Sewing Kit)
The Kevin Murphy Sewing Kit is amazing! I have had my hair sewn up many times and the woman who styled my hair for our wedding used the sewing kit instead of using bobby pins. Tim showed us a couple different ways to use the sewing kit and did a messy, braided up do in my hair using only a needle and thread. He asked people to play around with the sewing kit by using the thread as an elastic by wrapping it around the hair and tying it in a knot. He also demonstrated how different colors of thread can add a pop to any hair style.
Thanks again Kevin Murphy! I can’t wait for the next class
